Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in the area. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be recommended as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
