Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped with a paint primer, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
