Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
