Our Installation Process

Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in the area. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.

Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred since the cuts tend to be more precise.

Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped with a paint primer, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.

Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.

Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Begin at the middle of the wall.

Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.

Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
