Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is recommended as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but should you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
