Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
