Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but should you opt for bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
