Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of the straight walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred since cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, invert it ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
