Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred since cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels act as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
